Some R & R

Today's note comes to you from Hot Town...it still is unseasonably warm for mid-October in the middle of Arkansas. I flew back Thursday night for a few days rest and relaxation with hubby. Also plan to pack some winter clothes since the temperature did drop last week in NC. Enough with the weather report...on the exciting news. Drum roll...I got the week of Thanksgiving off! I fly home on the 22nd and go back on the 30th of November. So, that means we will have Thanksgiving again at the old homestead. I know when we announced the NC news, everyone kept asking about Thanksgiving this year. So, Sheri, Shannon, Jon, Jason, and Stephanie - you are all invited. I know it may not work out for all of you, but want you to know it's ON. We have some new wildlife here ~ Canadian Geese but they are southern bred and reallllly like the birdfeed (corn) we throw out for them. There's a Granny Goose too! She's the one with the pink feet (note the others have black feet. That's her barking at me through the plate glass. Puddy would have been freaking out! Rest his furry little self.

What's happening?

Thought I would start a blog again to keep all my 'peeps' updated with what is happening in Carolina.  Helloooo!

I just passed my six-month employment date, yeah! - only three left until my really long probation is complete in January.   I've lived in this apartment four months and it is feeling more comfortable all the time - at least a lot of my books, art supplies and other things are here that make it homey.
Missing a husband and a new cat  to love but those will arrive in due time. (for those unaware, we lost KitZilla August 3).

In the last six months I've taken 7 exams and completed 3 projects. Some of the exams were retakes, BUT they were just as nerve-wracking.  I am proud to say that as of September 22, 2013 I am officially Epic certified in EpicCare Ambulatory and Kaleidoscope, in addition to my Health Information Certification I received in 2006.  So, what a relief! Definitely ...it was hard to do all that while still performing job functions.  Since I started later in the project than others did, I have been playing catch-up since the get-go. Things are looking up though.

This project is on the fast-track and go-live is planned for April 2014 with a second one in June.  I'm working with a lot of great people - most of them professionals who came from other departments at UNC. They have never experienced anything like this and are still shell-shocked.  We will make it though!

I've met some super nice people and am making work friends with similar interests. Some of us even want to have crochet get-togethers once the dust settles.   Toodles for now - catch up soon!
